Settop & TV TV Guide

i worked at TV Guide's R&D dept for a while and developed look, feel and user interface for settop, channel and web too. if you google my name, you will find a fistful of results regarding patent information - this is where it comes from. doing user interface for complex, fluid and technically limited products like the settop was a delightful challenge.

we set about prototyping an interface that made use of remotes common in Europe and Asia. i did look, feel and user interface. this project will give a good look at some of the structure of a settop interface... this is the flip screen

an early prototype for Asia, where instead of using a PIG, we use a translucent overlay. a listing by time

i worked with a sister company, TV Games, to develop some branches of a settop based horse race wagering interface. i did the proBET, pool-price-result, user set-up and track info nodes. the proBET node is my claim to fame - it was very well received and

here we are on the forth step already! we offered a full range of betting options - here user is setting up a trifecta. the "ticket" at the bottom is collecting the information as the user inputs it, the gold denotes selected options.

the memory limitations for this interface were quite severe, so we used very few graphics and worked with the drawing abilities native the the settop itself.

i did not do the design, but i did the breakout, preping all the peices to go live and doing quite a bit of size and color adjustment. this is a large photoshop doc i made to mock up all sizes and color combinations for cutting and for review purposes.
