A key point of this work was to build a real resistant structure on which verify the correspondence between computer analysis and load tests. Me and my team builded a model of a suspension bridge, with a central span of 90 cm and a total lenght of 150 cm. The deck is made of glued laminated timber, the pylons of aluminium and the suspension cables of nylon. The two main suspension cables have been made with a bundle of 46 wires each, consisting of a single wire passed several times. The model has been designed with Midas Civil, and the calculations have been verified with static and dynamic tests directly made on the structure.
